Prince Welcomes You To The North Loop
The North Loop is about to have Twin Cities royalty welcoming visitors as they cross the Washington Avenue Bridge.
A 30-foot mural of Prince jamming on his guitar is going up on the side of the building at 424 Washington Avenue North, where Floyd’s 99 just opened. The barber shop chain known for its rock and roll theme commissioned Los Angeles artist Jonas Never to create the mural.
He started painting on Monday when temperatures were in the 80s but was wearing a stocking cap today with temps in the 50s. He expects the entire process to take about two weeks.
Never says Prince’s image will mostly be black and white, but will have some color highlights.
Just a few weeks ago, Never was finishing up a giant mural inside LA’s Staples Center, honoring the arena’s 20th anniversary.
