Signs Will Shed Light On North Loop’s History

By Mike Binkley, North Loop Neighborhood Association

Many of the North Loop buildings that we now know as contemporary urban lofts, office towers and retail stores had much different identities in the late 1800s and early 1900s when they were  factories, warehouses and agricultural facilities.

They played a big role in the development of this region, and the North Loop Neighborhood Association is helping honor that with signs that will start going up on several buildings this summer.

About ten signs will go up this year, detailing some of the original purposes of historic buildings in the neighborhood, but there are hopes of having as many as 40 signs in the future.

In the video above, Tim Bildsoe and Mark Huting of the North Loop Neighborhood Association talk about the reasons for taking on this project.
