Tullibee Restaurant At The Hewing Is Returning

It’s been more than a year of experimenting with ways to safely provide food service at the Hewing Hotel, and now the latest development: dinner service is returning to Tullibee on Fridays and Saturdays. The hotel provided the details in this news release:

March 31st, 2021 — Minneapolis, MN — Tullibee, located within the historic Hewing Hotel in downtown Minneapolis, will be welcoming back guests for dinner service beginning this Friday, April 2nd after being shuttered due to the mandated shutdown since March 21st of last year.

Executive Chef Nyle Flynn had barely taken the helm of the 4-year-old restaurant back in January of 2020 when word of the pandemic began. By March 21st the hotel and the restaurant had closed its doors. The hotel slowly resumed operations in June, but with limited staff. As summer and fall came and went, Chef Nyle pivoted with take out offerings and a limited food menu in the hotel’s bar, lounge and rooftop. In November, Chef had partnered with Chef Yia Vang for “Street Suite,” a weekly dining experience that featured the two chefs cooking authentic food over an open fire. They were able to safely serve socially distanced guests outdoors in the alley behind the hotel.

In early December, when the second shutdown occurred, Chef Nyle and his small team pivoted once again to create the Hewing’s Private Dining Experience. Several of the hotel’s rooms were transformed into private dining suites by removing the beds and replacing them with tables from the restaurant. Guests were able to enjoy a safe, contact-less, seven course dining experience. The idea was an instant hit and soon hotels across the country were creating similar experiences for their guests.

Now, the Tullibee culinary team is set to unveil new, family-style dishes designed to bring people together around the table once again. The new a la carte menu will feature a variety of locally sourced, hearty, meat-and-vegetable dishes served in generous portions that are perfect for sharing. Think whole, boneless, roasted guinea hen stuffed with chicken pot pie filling. Chef Nyle will also be curating a Chef’s choice menu that will highlight the produce from a different local farm every month.

Tullibee will be open for dinner service on Fridays and Saturdays from 5pm-11pm to start, but expanded hours – including breakfast and lunch – will be coming soon.
