Stay in the Loop

Former Bachelor Farmer Building Is Sold To Well-Known Restaurateurs

Big-name restaurateurs continue to gravitate toward the North Loop, and in particular North 1st Street.

According to an article in Mpls St Paul Magazine, the building that used to house Bachelor Farmer, Bachelor Cafe and Marvel Bar has been purchased by Ryan Burnet and Daniel del Prado, who plan to turn it into a “steakhouse, but with a lot of Argentinian influences.”

The building is on the same block where chef David Fhima is transforming the old Ribnick’s building into a brasserie, speakeasy and event center, while just down the street, Josh Thoma and Kevin Fitzgerald plan to convert the former Alliance Francaise center into a tequila-focused restaurant and bar.

And North 1st Street, of course, is where James Beard award-winning chef Gavin Kaysen is well-established with Spoon And Stable as well as Bellecour, while chef Shigeyuki Furukawa has three popular Japanese spots in one building: Sanjusan, Kado no Mise and Gori Gori Peku.

The new steakhouse at the former Bachelor Farmer is tentatively scheduled to open in the summer of 2023. A “lively and innovative cocktail bar” will fill the former Marvel Bar space, according to a news release from the new owners.
