Counting Down Our Top 23 Posts Of 2023

We had a lot of exciting news to share on the North Loop Instagram account this year… and we love seeing the big reaction you give to posts like these. Here’s a look back at our Top 23 posts of 2023:

#23: A construction worker at North Loop Green shot this close encounter with fighter jets in October.

#22: A tasty (and affordable!) new sandwich shop opened up inside the 5th Avenue Market in late spring and gave us a new appreciation for the versatility of eggs.

#21: Seating can be tight at this cozy little restaurant, but Snack Bar added sidewalk tables around Memorial Day and our Instagram followers loved it.

#20: A fun little hideaway, Char Bar, opened at the back of Butcher & The Boar in mid-March.

#19: Oui oui! A big reaction in April when this fancy new French restaurant announced its opening date.

#18: The graphic designers at Ovative gave us a great gift in 2023: new maps that we distributed throughout the neighborhood. You can find an interactive digital version here on our website.

#17: So fun to see this historic building come back to life with the opening of Public Domain this fall.

#16: Lots of excitement for this new restaurant, opening soon from two veterans of the North Loop restaurant/bar scene.

#15: Our video of the drone show at Target Field went global on Facebook, picking up nearly 330,000 views and was our most-watched reel on Instagram in 2023.

#14: Yet another indoor-mini-golf-for-adults company, Puttshack, announced that they’ll be coming to our neighborhood in 2024.

#13: Another place to buy a six-pack and bottle of wine to go?! North Loopers were definitely on board.

#12: Joining Bunkers and The Fillmore in offering regular live music in the North Loop will be this new bar, opening in early 2024.

#11: Before Puralima restaurant opened this summer, we found this artist wrapping the poles with colorful yarn.

#10: The anticipation for Porzana was so high, the mere installation of its sign on this historic building drew an enthusiastic response and made our top ten for the year.

#9: ABC’s Good Morning America had Wrecktangle Pizza in their competition for “America’s Ultimate Pizzeria” and North Loopers were cheering on as Wrecktangle took home the top prize.

#8: We’re prettier than we used to be! Check out what a difference 25 years has made in these before/after photos comparing 1998 to 2023 in the North Loop.

#7: Meat eaters rejoiced in late January as the new Butcher & The Boar was getting close to opening.

#6: Chef Daniel del Prado’s much-anticipated Argentinian steakhouse opened on 1st Street in August.

#5: This privately-operated trolley started doing downtown loops this summer and then transitioned to pub crawls, ghost tours and holiday light tours.

#4: We got an advance look at the transformation of the old Ribnick building into the beautiful Maison Margaux restaurant.

#3: Our neighborhood was definitely pumped about the arrival of indoor mini golf this summer.

#2: We had barely just said goodbye to Darby’s before Bricksworth opened in its place and drew a big response on Instagram.

#1: And our biggest response of the year came to the news that Public Domain, the “cocktail bar without menus” would be moving into the space where Haute Dish used to be.
